• A traditional breakfast dish consisting of a sauce containing legumes and offal to which a staple such as cassava or matoke is added, all cooked in the same pot.

Origin

• Borrowed from Bantu katogo (“casserole, pot; stew”); while one author suggests the word is derived from Luganda, another has been suggested it is not possible to identify the specific Bantu language as the word is found in several of them.
