A lipid-regulating drug C20H21ClO4 that is administered orally to reduce levels of LDL, triglyceride, and apolipoprotein B and increase levels of HDL and is used chiefly to treat hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia. It is metabolized in the liver to form pharmacologically-active fenofibric acid, and is marketed under the trademarks Antara, Fenoglide, Lipofen, Lofibra, TriCor, and Triglide.
