• An infinite array of discrete points generated by a set of discrete translation operations $\backslash mathbf\{R\}\; =\; n\_\{1\}\backslash mathbf\{a\}\_\{1\}\; +\; n\_\{2\}\backslash mathbf\{a\}\_\{2\}\; +\; n\_\{3\}\backslash mathbf\{a\}\_\{3\}$, where n_i are any integers and a_i are known as the primitive vectors which lie in different directions and span the lattice.
