  • From Latin incuriosus ("careless"), from in- and curiosus. Attested since the 1560s, originally meaning ‘heedless and negligent.’ The sense of ‘uninquisitive’ dates from the 1610s, and the sense of ‘unworthy of attention’ from 1747.
