Cognate with Old High German hroch, roch – whence German Rock ("skirt, coat") –, Saterland Frisian Rok ("skirt"), Dutch rok ("skirt, petticoat"), Old English rocc ("an overgarment, tunic, rochet"), Old Norse rokkr ("skirt, jacket"), whence Danish rok ("garment").
