From Hindi भीमता, derived from B. R. Ambedkar's name, "Bhimrao", which was ultimately from Sanskrit भीम, a character from the Mahabharata. The usage against Dalits and lower-class Indians was derived from Ambedkar's popularity among lower-class people in India, and his opposition to Hinduism.
It may also be a play on Sanskrit भीमता, which means "terrible".
