A place name; title for a peninsula or low-lying land.
Origin
From the word tanguay, an old Tagalog term for peninsula, and from Spanish, tanduay ("low-lying land"), such as the "Isla de Tanduay" marked by Spanish cartographers for a place in the city of Manila, that included the San Miguel and Quiapo districts.
