Of or relating to the Pashtuns (a segmentary-lineage ethnic group currently numbering some 50 million people, which is the largest ethnic group in Afghanistan and the second largest in Pakistan), or to their culture.
Noun
A member of the Pashtun ethnic group, or of a Pashtun tribe.
Most likely derived from Old Iranian *Parswāna-, with the basic stem *Parsū-; closely related to *Parθaʰ (“Parthian”) and Old Persian 𐎱𐎠𐎼𐎿, both from the earlier *Parsūa-, probably meaning "border or borderland" (in contrast to Media, meaning "central land"); cf. Sanskrit (Pāṇini) Parśu- “a (northwestern) warrior tribe” and Late Babylonian 𒌓𒍪.
