Meaning

Proper Noun

Origin

  • A common folk etymology for Parañaque is the phrase "Para aqui" ("Stop here!"), supposedly said by a Spaniard to a coachman when he wanted to stop in the area. However, it is actually a Hispanicized form of Palañac, an earlier Hispanicized form of the name attested in 1582. It is of uncertain origin
