Of or relating to a branch of the Uto-Aztecanlanguage family, including seven languages spoken by Native Americans traditionally living in the Great Basin, Colorado River basin, and southern Great Plains.
Origin
From the reconstructed Proto-Numic word for "person", *nɨmɨ. In the three Central Numic languages and the two Western Numic languages, its reflex is /nɨmɨ/. In Kawaiisu it is /nɨwɨ/, and in Colorado River it is /nɨwɨ/, /nɨŋwɨ/ and /nuu/.
