From Ἕλληνες, most probably a derivation of Ἑλλοί or Σελλοί, the Greek inhabitants of the area around the sanctuary of Dodona (Δωδώνη). In Greek mythology Ἕλλην, whom the Ἕλληνες were named after, was the son of Δευκαλίων and Πύρρα.
