Ancient Greek Ἐβιωναῖοι, from Hebrew אביונים ("the Poor Ones"), plural of Hebrew אֶבְיוֹן ("needy, poor"), itself likely a borrowing from Coptic ⲉⲃⲓⲏⲛ ("poor").
