A small dim summerconstellation of the northern sky, said to represent an offering of hair from Queen Berenice II of Egypt. Originally considered to represent the tuft of hair on the end of Leo's tail.

Named in antiquity after the hair of Queen Berenice II of Egypt. From Latin coma + Berenīcē, from Ancient Greek Κώμη Βερενίκης, from κώμη (kome) "hair" + Doric Greek Βερενίκη (Berenike) "bringer of victory"
